Older Netgear Routers Infected with Malware …

Older Netgear Routers Infected with Malware Michael Patterson, CEO of Plixer, offered these observations. "This is an example of a botnet using vulnerable Netgear Routers to indiscriminately apply credential stuffing brute force tactics with stolen username and password credentials. When there is a successful login, the bad actor gains a foothold into the organization from which they can steal data or do damage. These small routers fall under the umbrella of the Internet of Things (IoT) and external LEDs on the devices or notifications would be helpful when they haven’t seen an update for a period of time. A hard stop - end of life (e.g. 3 years) on all IoT devices should also be considered. Every organization must understand that breaches are inevitable and systems like network traffic analytics are required for effective incident response and the forensic data required to understand what happened.” RouteX Malware Uses Netgear Routers for Credential Stuffing Attacksbleepingcomputer.com...

More Card Skimming (Opal/Bealeton) …

More Card Skimming (Opal/Bealeton) Just like the IRS and not being able to secure your records to prevent India from filing your taxes, or your bank keeping people out of your funds, or credit reporting agencies like Equifax letting the bad guys in. It should be fairly easy to prevent a thief from gaining access to gas pumps and atm machines but we some how rely on a vast array of companies that do not take the security of their customer seriously, that is the problem. Demand the companies you do business with improve their security. Two-factor for passwords and anti-theft devices for card scanners. We can no longer turn a blind eye to the problem business out there that continually allow these things to happen. We can no longer accept "ignorance" as an excuse. Card “skimming” devices found in Bealeton, Opalfauquiernow.com...
