In preparation for the damaging high winds expected this evening throughout our service area that may result in wide-spread power outages. We recommend people in affected areas not planning on using their computers/equipment/TVs/etc to go ahead and power them off AND unplug them from the wall outlets. This will prevent damages from surges or any unexpected loss of power that can corrupt your data. In some cases computers that are OFF and you experience intermittent power loss, devices can unexpectedly turn on.

If you have a UPS (battery backup) attached to your computer/devices, you should be fine as long as the UPS has been configured properly to shutdown the computer properly when a power loss is detected or you are going to be around to turn the devices off manually.

Should we experience some type of extended service outage, you can stay informed here on our Facebook page or by calling our main number 540-905-8111 and selecting option 6 for the current status message.
